If we were to take a poll of what people fear most about aging, mobility and the independence that comes with it would probably be at the top of the list. Not being able to go where one wants when one wants to is a very big deal. Everything from being able to play with one’s grandkids and pets to playing sports, and even being able to get one’s own groceries. One of the biggest diseases of aging is osteoarthritis. According to the World Health Organization, it affects over 500 million people and is characterized by “degradation of cartilage and other joint tissues, severe pain, and impaired mobility.” In other words, movement becomes painful and awkward.
Urolithin A, the compound found in Mitopure by Timeline Nutrition, is a natural postbiotic that promotes mitophagy and mitochondrial function and has been clinically proven to improve muscle health and muscle strength. In this recent study published in the journal Aging Cell, Urolithin A is shown to both reduce inflammation and improve mitochondrial health in the joints of both healthy donors and osteoarthritis patients. It is the only tested compound shown to do this.
Why do we care about this? Because mitochondrial dysfunction is a contributor to the disease of osteoarthritis. Mitochondria are the power centers of our cells. They are in every cell in our bodies with the exception of our blood. As we age, the function of our mitochondria declines. Mitochondria have been identified as significant players in the aging process, and are being studied for their role in the development of age-related chronic conditions such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular disease, and age-related muscle decline. Anyone who is interested in increasing their health span will want to be paying attention to keeping these little energy motors as healthy as possible, as 90% of our cellular energy comes from them.
The body has a way of clearing out less functional mitochondria and replacing them with fresh ones. This is called mitophagy. Urolithin A, as found in Mitopure, is a molecule that stimulates this crucial recycling and cleansing process — ultimately protecting cells from age-associated decline.
There are over 300 published pre-clinical and clinical trials examining the health benefits of Urolithin A (Mitopure). This makes Mitopure one of the most researched longevity supplements on the market. In a randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial with adults aged 40-65 years old, participants who received a daily 500 mg dose of Mitopure had a significant improvement in muscle strength, compared with participants in the placebo group.

What about us over 65??? Should we bother???
Based on how Mitopure works, mitophaghy, we would expect similar results at any age. Studies tend to be done with specific age groups so they can standardize them.
Dairy-free here. Would love to try Mitopure, but my understanding is that it contains dairy.
Hi Joan. The Mitopure powder is vegan and the capsules are lactose free. The protein powder has whey in it.
this is labelled way up at the top as Advertisement/Sponsored. it would be helpful to have posts which critically assess the current research status of urolithin A, written by experts unaffiliated with Mitopure. Thank you.
