interiors
Maybe it’s a move to seek refuge from the tsunami of incoming information and distraction we are daily subjected to, but there is a growing trend in interiors to turn down the volume. Comfort of materials, keep it easy on the eyes, and make a refuge environment for a mental re-boot. These spaces are not solitary, but rather set up for groups- having the family and friends over, but with less distraction of color and objects, the attention can be directed at something more human- connecting with your guests, your family and with yourself. Beige and taupe (our favorite paint color being Benjamin Moore China White), the calming natural tones of Frank Lloyd Wright, brought into a modern less structured environment seem like just what the doctor ordered after a day withstanding the usual digital data assault. One of the prime practitioners is Disc Interiors. Nice work, and a great Instagram feed for inspiration.
There are multiple ways to counter a house’s unyielding road towards age and Disc Interiors accomplishes this with calm and an appreciation of imperfect beauty. Their aim is to create interior and architectural balance, design spaces that have structure, purpose, and provides a place of comfort. A home that pushes and pulls the aspects of modern life, and customized to a sense of place and persons, not a particular period or style. Disc Interiors firmly believe homes can be filled with less, and still remain powerful spaces.
In designing, Disc Interior is attracted to homes that become broken into, not broke. They source materials that transform with light and organic textures that magically reveals the soul of the home. Most of Disc Interior’s projects are filled with vintage furniture and rugs juxtaposed against custom upholstery, allowing homes to emit a contemporary, yet classic and familiar aura. Their choice of textural earthly palettes transition like seasons, the eyes relaxing into harmonious hues, inviting the audience to look closer and deepen their relationship with a space.
