We are now in the process of conceiving the next YBL. Many of you have asked what we are doing, where we are doing it and when. Reasonable questions and ones that we are working on.
The current thinking is Los Angeles. The reason being this is where we are located and doing a remote location 10x-es the chance of something going sideways. Don’t get me wrong, all the places that have been suggested — New York, Toronto, Milan, London, and San Francisco — are wonderful cities, and I could still be convinced to go there, but for now, having the hometown advantage is looking mighty tempting.
Last year we did the 12th of June, and that still seems about right to us. There is still some discussion of a weekday vs a weekend, and the weekday is looking the most promising so far.
The big question is, what will it be like this year. We learned so much from our first YBL last year that I can promise you all something even better. The main things we all agree on are: more opportunities to meet more AGEIST members and to interact more with the AGEIST team. We didn’t realize how much all of you wanted to hang with each other and to speak with us.
This wonderful piece came out recently about this past summer’s YBL event.
What was it like:
“People would come in and they would look at this room [where YBL was being held] and their mouths would just drop open. It was like, there are 200 people in here that are just like me. They’re this age and really cool and doing great stuff, and this is amazing.”
What’s in your forecast?
“Well, I think that we’re now at a point where we can imagine a world where ageism doesn’t exist. We can see that. And we can imagine a world where we’re connecting all these people that are in this group, and we’re putting them out there for other people to see. Imagine what that looks like. Imagine that world.”
Who do you want to have speak at YBL 2020? What sort of sponsors would you like to have? Do you want your company to be a sponsor? Please send us your input. We want to hear from everyone.
