A new study from the Department of Biomedicine and the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University could provide a novel treatment plan for Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers studied pigs “born with a mutation in the gene SORL1, which… are found in up to 2-3% of all early onset Alzheimer’s cases in human beings.” The researchers can now follow the pigs and the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in them to develop medicines that treat the disease as well as understand the changes that occur in the brain at every stage.
