Erectile Disfunction and Cardiovascular Disease

Studies indicate that erectile dysfunction may serve as an early indicator of cardiovascular disease. While various factors can contribute to ED, a significant portion of cases stem from organic vascular issues. If vascular problems underlie your ED, it could signify deeper cardiovascular concerns. Research suggests that ED may signal a cardiovascular event looming three to five years ahead.

The correlation lies in blood circulation. Cardiologist Danielle Belardo explains that the risk factors leading to plaque accumulation in heart vessels mirror those affecting blood vessels throughout the body. Making specific lifestyle adjustments can notably enhance blood flow and overall health like maintaining a healthy weight, enhancing dietary quality (increasing fruits and vegetables, reducing saturated fats), engaging in daily exercise and physical activity, and eliminating tobacco use.
