Back in 2021, we stayed at the delightful Halekulani in Waikiki, Honolulu. This tranquil, modern luxe, oceanfront hotel made for the perfect relaxing and rejuvenating break. Hello Aloha! Halekulani has always had a strong focus on wellbeing — nourishment, movement, exploration, renewal, rest, and discovery. You can expect to experience all of these in spades when you visit.
Staying in line with their focus on wellness, the hotel has added a program of experiences called the Art of Wellbeing which are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month through the end of this year. Some upcoming Art of Wellbeing presentations are the Art of Surfing and the Halekulani Fine Art Collection.
The Art of Surfing, for example, allows guests to take informative classes either to learn how or to improve their surfing or stand-up paddleboarding skills. The team of teachers is comprised of experts who have a combined 65 years of experience in water sports. From someone who surfs, we can testify that the very best place to learn to surf, of any we have ever been, is Waikiki. It worked for Elvis, it can work for you.
More than just learning how to surf or paddleboard, the experience “will provide you with an understanding and appreciation of the Hawaiian waters (the birthplace of surf), inform you of the different moon phases which change daily and affect the waves, and provide you with the perfect board – curated and hand shaped, exclusively for Waikiki.” Halekulani also has an exercise studio with a premium line of strength and cardio machines along with complimentary, functional classes.
If you prefer a relaxation-focused vacation, enjoy Halekulani’s spa offering rejuvenating and beautifying services like massages, manicures, pedicures, and hair treatments. Which, after a day playing in the waves, sounds like a sumptuous experience to us.
Halekulani is located in a quiet part of Waikiki, an easy drive from the airport, making it convenient to explore the city, try local restaurants, and shop. Don’t want to leave the property? The hotel has two highly rated restaurants and a third that will be reopening in the future. The Halekulani Bakery and Restaurant, located across the street at the sister hotel, Halepuna, has a bakery offering fresh pastries, breads, cookies, cakes, and handmade chocolates to accompany your daily dose of coffee (which is brewed to order).

Whether you learn how to surf, spend your days lounging by the pool, enjoying spa treatments, or dining at one of the restaurants, Halekulani will make your vacation special.
