Positive Action

There are 3 factors that influence our lives. There are the resources we have been dealt: smarts, money, family, etc. There is what is happening around us: war, boom times, famine, disco, whatever. None of these are within our control, they are just givens. The third variable is what we can control: our thinking, our actions, and the energy and focus we put into it. I have learned the hard way that work itself is not enough; it needs correct thinking and correctly-focused action. If we are thinking about what we don’t have, then we are just boring victims — no one likes that. Maybe it’s our age, and the way that affects how we are perceived. This is just a given, and it’s true that on a cultural level, it is what AGEIST is changing, but on a personal level it does me no good at all. Every day is a learning opportunity to improve my focus and my understanding of my purpose. I have a choice to pay attention or repeat the lesson the next day. There are many days when I am feeling beastly and choose to ignore everything and everyone around me, unpleasantly focusing on what a sad hand I have been dealt. Those are bad days. When I understand that my life is a result of what I have chosen to do with what I have, I can move forward, if I choose to. Myself, I don’t feel I have an option of not moving forward and trying to make the very most of what I was dealt — it’s just my jam, I’ve always been this way, and there may be a point where I say the lemon is squeezed dry, but like most of you out there, that time is a long way away.
