Things We Love: Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones

David's go-to noise-canceling headphones for working, and working out, from home

One of the things about life this last year was the advent of the all-day work-from-home lifestyle. The upside being that there was no commuting to an office. The downside being there was no office. There was also no gym. This required some improvisation in the home to bring these two pillars into our home lives.

I also love music and have been spoiled by having experienced really nice audio. How to cover all these bases at once with a comfortable well-built noise-canceling headphone?

After some experimentation with various in-ear noise-canceling headphones, and a couple of over-ear models, my go-to is the Sennheiser Momentum 3.

Here are my 7 reasons for choosing the Sennheiser Momentum 3:

  1. They work on Bluetooth and sound great. There is a clarity to them that brings out the best in everything from Bach to Kraut Rock to Fleetwood Mac. Yes, I do occasionally listen to Stevie Nicks.
  2. I can use them on my Schwinn IC4 spin bike. One of the great joys in my life is getting on my bike and having my dance party for one. I have been told that this makes a considerable racket, but hey, I have noise-canceling headphones on so it’s just me and Ye in our private lose-your-mind spin world. Rock out.
  3. They are supremely comfortable and well built. I will wear them for hours at a time when writing or editing, and they never bother me.
  4. They claim a 17-hour battery life. I have not actually measured what the battery life is, but I can say that I only need to charge them once or twice a month
  5. They fold up into a handsome case. This will come in very handy for long plane trips. For big headphones, they are chic. Looks count, right?
  6. There are 3 modes of noise canceling. On, off, and transparent. This means that when I am walking somewhere with traffic, I won’t be killed by an unheard vehicle.
  7. They automatically turn off when I fold them up. This eliminates one more thing for me to think about. They also easily connect. I’ve never had a problem with the Bluetooth.
