Men’s Fashion: Raid the Skate Shop

Men's fashion can be tricky. How can we look cool but not silly? Raid the skate shop.

The endless question for men: What should I wear so I look cool, but not silly? How can I look effortlessly stylish? We have a radical suggestion from our in-house aficionado of style, Mr. Jonathan Cheung: Raid the skate shop. You don’t have to spend a bundle going to Mr. Porter to look good.

A couple of our favs are Flatspot and BlackSheep. Stay with the classics and the solids; be careful with patterns and crazy logos. The trick is to look cool and timeless, and not look like you are trying to be 16. Levi’s skateboarding 501s and cargo pants, Dickies, Carhartt sweatshirts. Check out the skate shoes which all tend to be cool & comfy: New Balance Alpha Numerics, Adidas Matchbreak, Nike SB Bruins. I was in the local Home Depot the other day when the teenager working the register saw my Nike SB Heritage sneaks and I got the cool nod. Not that our goal is to impress the local skaters, but that crew knows style.

Here are a few items we like, all available from BlackSheep.
