Unfiltered Coffee Elevates LDL Cholesterol?

Studies indicate that unfiltered coffee may elevate LDL cholesterol levels, potentially increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease due to its higher content of diterpenes. These compounds can interfere with the body’s natural cholesterol processing mechanisms. A large-scale observational study involving over 500,000 participants found a correlation between unfiltered coffee consumption and higher mortality rates compared to filtered coffee, which was associated with lower mortality than abstaining from coffee altogether. While occasional consumption of unfiltered coffee is not strictly prohibited, health-conscious individuals may want to prioritize filtered coffee as their primary choice. It’s worth noting that many popular cold brew varieties are unfiltered, so consumers should be aware of this when selecting their preferred coffee beverages.
