This Amount of Exercise Reduces Premature Death Risk

A study published in the journal Circulation analyzed more than 100,000 participants over a 30-year period to understand the optimal amount of exercise a week for reducing the risk of premature death. The study found that the reduction of mortality was “21-23% for people who engaged in two to four times the recommended amount of vigorous physical activity, and 26-31% for people who engaged in two to four times the recommended amount of moderate physical activity each week.” The study’s findings “support the current national physical activity guidelines” which is “at least 150-300 minutes/week of moderate physical activity or 75-150 minutes/week of vigorous physical activity.”
