What is the healthiest way to cook our food? Should we be eating our food raw, boiled, pan-fried, stewed, toasted, roasted, sautéed? A recent study posted in Nature explored different cooking methods and suggests which method is the healthiest. The study found that “Raw, boiling, pan-frying, and toasting were associated with healthy profiles as for inflammatory markers, renal function, thyroid hormones, and serum vitamin D.” However, “frying and, to a less extent, stewing showed unhealthier profiles.” Additionally, the cooking methods that did not include added fats were “healthier than those with added fats heated at high temperatures or during longer periods of time.”
