Olive Oil’s Health Benefits

The Mediterranean diet, renowned for its emphasis on fish, fruits, vegetables, and minimal processed foods, may owe much of its health benefits to a single ingredient: olive oil. Recent research involving over 2.7 million participants across long-term studies suggests that increased olive oil consumption is linked to a significant reduction in heart disease risk and related mortality. Extra virgin olive oil, rich in monounsaturated fats and polyphenols, offers additional advantages such as lowering blood pressure and regulating blood sugar levels. Surprisingly, incorporating just two tablespoons of olive oil into your daily diet through cooking, as a salad dressing, or even in smoothies may be sufficient to reap these health rewards.
