Nasal Vaccines for Covid-19?

At this point in the pandemic, we understand that the Covid-19 vaccines are not perfectly effective at preventing the contraction of the virus. Scientists are currently working on a nasal spray vaccine to stop the virus at the source. A study published in Science explains that while “Immunization directly through airway surfaces is effective in driving mucosal immunity”, “poor vaccine uptake across the mucus and epithelial lining is a limitation” and has posed issues in the past for creating nasal vaccines. Researchers have seemed to uncover a way around this dilemma in mice and non-human primate studies.
