Managing Anger With Relaxing Activities

A meta-analysis of 154 clinical trials involving over 10,000 participants examined the effects of various activities on anger levels. The study classified activities as either arousal-increasing (stimulating) or arousal-decreasing (relaxing). Researchers found that relaxing activities like meditation, mindfulness, and yoga were more effective at reducing anger, hostility, and aggression, with meditation showing the strongest impact. Surprisingly, some stimulating activities like jogging appeared to increase anger levels. The study suggests that while physical activity might help process anger, incorporating relaxation techniques is crucial for effectively managing and releasing anger in the long term.
