Chocolate Is Good For Your Heath (Yes, You Read That Right)

A recent study published in Nature investigates the benefits of cacao, particularly if cacao can extend a healthy lifespan. Cacao seeds are what chocolate is created from. Cacao “contains various active components and is considered a preventative agent against metabolic disease.” The study also found that the “fatty acid tryptamide” helps to extend a healthy lifespan in the organism that the study was testing. Try adding cacao powder to your smoothie or coffee or sprinkle your yogurt with cacao nibs. There is research to suggest that cacao eaten in excess can interfere with calcium absorption which is important for bone density so be sure to only eat a serving size amount and when in doubt, speak with your doctor before adding anything new to your diet.
