Build More Muscle in Your Quads

New studies indicate that adjusting your body positioning during leg extensions can significantly boost quad muscle growth. Rather than the traditional upright torso position, researchers found leaning back at around a 40-degree angle amplifies activation and development of the rectus femoris, a key quadriceps muscle. Sitting upright with hips bent at 90 degrees actually shortens and limits this muscle’s range of motion. By reclining slightly during the exercise, you increase hip extension which allows the rectus femoris to stretch further and facilitate up to 170% more growth. These findings reinforce the longstanding principle that achieving a full range of motion by maximizing the stretch and contraction is vital for optimal muscle building.
