Blue light has been put on blast for being disruptive to our circadian rhythm. The fear of UV rays have led us to slather on sunscreen, wear a hat, and run to the dermatologist when a new freckle surfaces on our skin. But not all light is bad. Red light in particular is wonderful for our cells, as our mitochondria get an energy boost from bathing in this light. By stimulating our cells with red light therapy (RLT), they more readily produce energy—which means more energy to drive cellular turnover and repair. Like their Infrared Sauna Blanket, BON CHARGE’s Red Light Face Mask and Red Light Neck & Chest Mask harness the power of near-infrared technology along with the power of red light so you can rejuvenate your skin cells and improve your overall skin tone and texture in the comfort of your own home.
Studies Shine a Positive Light on Red Light Therapy
Though more research is needed, studies are highlighting the promising potential and benefits of RLT for skin health. In one study cited in an article published by the American Academy of Dermatology Association, 90 patients who received red light treatments noticed softer, smoother skin as well as less redness and lighter dark spots (Ludmann, 2024). Another study, published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, found that low-level red and infrared light increased the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin in human skin cells (2019), and a clinical trial found that red light therapy improved wrinkles around the eyes (Rocha Mota et al., 2018).
BON CHARGE is on top of the science. Studies show that certain wavelengths of red light can be more beneficial than others, and BON CHARGE has dialed-in their products to ensure the red light being emitted is of the optimal wavelength (red light [630nm] and near-infrared light [850nm]). So, what are the perks and benefits of this face, chest, and neck technology? Read on to learn more.
The Benefits of the Red Light Face Mask
BON CHARGE’s Red Light Face Mask is an advanced skincare device that’s designed to be comfortable and effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles and improving overall skin tone and texture. It does so by emitting specific wavelengths of red light that rejuvenate and enhance the skin. Plus, because it provides full face coverage, it offers a comprehensive treatment, so no part of your face will go without experiencing the power of the red light. With an adjustable strap, hands-free design, and auto-off timer, you can wear it while you’re taking a quick cat nap, watching a movie, making a snack, or answering emails. You could even wear it out on the go while running errands (just be prepared to turn some heads). With its easy use and rechargeable capabilities, the Red Light Face Mask allows you to venture out of your bathroom while still getting comprehensive skin care.

Does using a infrared sauna work as well
Hi Karen! Using an infrared sauna offers so many full-body benefits, such as sweating/detoxification, improved circulation, etc., so using one could result in better skin appearance and health as well. (Here’s another article of ours on the benefits of sauna usage, if you’re interested: https://www.ageist.com/wellness/health/heat-stress-for-health/).
That said, if you want to focus specifically on your face and neck area, then red light therapy focuses more on cellular health and skin rejuvenation without the intense heat of a sauna. So, while both treatments offer benefits for skin health and overall wellness, skin tech that uses RLT is specifically noted for its targeted skin and tissue healing properties.
If you are more interested in exploring infrared sauna options, BON CHARGE also makes an awesome infrared sauna blanket too that you can learn about here: https://www.ageist.com/wellness/turn-up-the-heat/.
