This week, I am still fighting off the mucus stubbornly lingering in my lungs. I am not sure which is worse: coughing as if I have some frighteningly contagious disease, or owning up to the very off-brand reality that I have a secondary bacterial infection in my lungs — the indignity of actually being sick, and dealing with the sluggish mental function that goes with it.
For reasons I am not at all clear about, see above denial of physical state, I am intensely interested in the Taylor-Travis romance. Miss Swift is currently the most recognized human on the planet, so my interest is not exactly rare. Initially, I thought the whole thing was a PR stunt, a la ’50s movie studios, to boost both of their careers. Now I am all in. She travels with her parents, which, for a woman in her mid-30s, is incredibly touching; and, unless they too are tremendous actors, I have to believe their enthusiasm for the whole thing.
There is something throw-back sweet about the whole thing, which has me rooting for both of them. After all, these are not teenagers we are talking about; these are a couple of super successful adults in their mid-30s who are well aware of what is happening around them.
In other world-shaking news, I had a lesson in active listening, which is not, as I assumed, attentive listening. My assumption was that it was all about total focus on what the other person was saying, being fully present, and not blabbing. What I learned was that silent focus is actually wildly unnerving for the other person. I was actually supposed to speak, reflecting back my understanding of what was being said. Duhhh, but I was listening so hard. Again, see above physical-mental state.
The other big news is that although there is very little natural snow here, thanks to the modern miracle of snow making the mountain is scheduled to open on Friday. Bacterial infection be damned. I’m going up there, MFs.
If you have taken the AGEIST SuperAge Quiz, this week you received a tip about blood glucose. If not, maybe take the quiz here.
Onward and upward,
