Craving some comic relief this weekend? We asked you on Instagram (follow us @weareageist) what your favorite comedy movie is. Here are those answers plus some favorites from the AGEIST team.

Top 5 Editor Selects

We’re the Millers
Cast: Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Ed Helms
Released: 2013
Description: “Small-time pot dealer David (Jason Sudeikis) learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished; trying to help some teens, he is jumped by thugs and loses his cash and stash. Now, David’s in big debt to his supplier and — to wipe the slate clean — he must go to Mexico to pick up the guy’s latest shipment. To accomplish his mission, Dave devises a foolproof plan: he packs a fake family into a huge RV and heads south of the border for a wild weekend that is sure to end with a bang.”
Why we love it: For pure non-PC hysteria, grab your favorite THC product and prepare for what may be the only funny movie you will ever need.

We’re the Millers

Meet the Parents & Meet the Fockers
Cast: Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo
Released: 2000
Description: “A young man’s first visit to his girlfriend’s parents’ house turns out to be more nightmarish than he could ever have imagined. Hoping to use the weekend as a chance to propose to his girlfriend, he only succeeds in incurring the wrath of his prospective father-in-law and almost destroys their home in the process.”
Why we love it: …Any of the Focker films are a holiday tradition with a stellar cast including Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman, and Barbra Streisand.

Meet the Parents

Crazy, Stupid, Love
Cast: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone
Released: 2011
Description: “Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the American dream. He has a good job, a beautiful house, great children, and a beautiful wife named Emily (Julianne Moore). Cal’s seemingly perfect life unravels, however, when he learns that Emily has been unfaithful and wants a divorce. Over 40 and suddenly single, Cal is adrift in the fickle world of dating. Enter, Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), a self-styled player who takes Cal under his wing and teaches him how to be a hit with the ladies.”
Why we love it: This is a feel-good romcom with an incredible line-up of actors. “You’re better than the Gap….”

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Tropic Thunder
Cast: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Kahn, Tom Cruise
Released: 2008
Description: “While shooting a war film, the director attempts to liven up proceedings by dropping the principal actors into the middle of a real jungle, claiming he is going to capture their performance with hidden cameras. The hapless group including drug-addled comedy star Jeff Portnoy and po-faced method man Kirk Lazarus are completely unaware when a series of unfortunate events leads them into the middle of a real war zone.”
Why we love it: A special film for special people. Some people love this movie if for nothing else then the Tom Cruise fat-suit dance scene. Totally mental.

Tropic Thunder

Blazing Saddles
Cast: Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, Mel Brooks
Released: 1974
Description: “In this satirical take on Westerns, crafty railroad worker Bart (Cleavon Little) becomes the first black sheriff of Rock Ridge, a frontier town about to be destroyed in order to make way for a new railroad. Initially, the people of Rock Ridge harbor a racial bias toward their new leader. However, they warm to him after realizing that Bart and his perpetually drunk gunfighter friend (Gene Wilder) are the only defense against a wave of thugs sent to rid the town of its population.”
Why we love it: This movie is juvenile, ridiculous, and a classic.

Blazing Saddles

Young Frankenstein
Cast: Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle
Released: 1974
Description: “Respected medical lecturer Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) learns that he has inherited his infamous grandfather’s estate in Transylvania. Arriving at the castle, Dr. Frankenstein soon begins to recreate his grandfather’s experiments with the help of servants Igor (Marty Feldman), Inga (Teri Garr), and the fearsome Frau Blücher (Cloris Leachman). After he creates his own monster (Peter Boyle), new complications ensue with the arrival of the doctor’s fiancée, Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn).”
Why we love it: This movie is set up for Brooks’ particular brand of goofy, Borscht Belt burlesque. Think Harpo Marx meets Mary Shelley with Marty Feldman and Gene Wilder. Just as looney now as it was when you first saw it.
