Entrepreneurial You
Changing careers? Job pivot? We’ve had experts like David Cooley, John Tarnoff and Barb Hagerty telling us for some time that the single lifetime career may still exist, but is no longer the norm. Surveys are now showing that people are changing jobs and careers more often than ever. One interesting trend we are picking up is that people are pro-actively changing jobs and careers. With increasing automation and oncoming AI, it makes sense to seek protection by reinventing ourselves before we find ourselves looking for a new job. It may be out of curiosity or perhaps need, but people over 50 are starting businesses at an increasing pace. Our feeling is that anyone who has been working for 30 or 40 years is most certainly in possession of valuable knowledge that can be turned into an income stream. There is a fascinating new book out this fall, Dorie Clark’sEntrepreneurial You, which explains in clear, practical terms how to monetize your expertise and create multiple streams of income. Thank you to the FT’s Helen Barrett for bringing it to our attention.
